Remembering Beverly Ann Saltonstall, A Champion for Cape Coral’s Burrowing Owls
Beverly Ann Saltonstall
JULY 28, 1945 – AUGUST 18, 2026
Beverly became a passionate voice for the burrowing owl, offering educational programs throughout the community, speaking to anyone willing to listen, and helping champion the effort to have this special little owl recognized as Cape Coral’s official city bird. She went on to write the hugely popular book Cape Coral Burrowing Owls Don’t Hoot, further sharing her love and knowledge of the species with the community.
Her generosity to the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife was just as remarkable. Beverly donated autographed copies of her book each year to our auction, along with beautiful handmade quilts and guided wildlife tours of Cape Coral. She was a lovely, spirited woman who could happily talk about wildlife for hours—and whose enthusiasm inspired so many others to care about the creatures that make Cape Coral special.
Beverly leaves behind extraordinarily big shoes to fill and a legacy that will live on through the wildlife she worked so hard to protect and the countless people she educated and inspired. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her love for Cape Coral’s burrowing owls will remain a lasting part of this community.”
There will be a celebration of Beverly’s life on Nov 7, 2026 at Rotary Park from 1pm – 4 pm.
