Thousands of bees found dead at Cape Coral home
One local Cape Coral beekeeper woke up to thousands of dead bees on his property…and he blames pesticides for killing them.
“At first, I thought bees had been robbed by another hive,” Ben Giddins said.
He and his wife have been local beekeepers for years. Before Hurricane Ian, they had 12 hives at their Cape Coral house.
“I love bees, I love harvesting the honey,” he said. “My wife loves the honey.”
Over the weekend when he was checking on his two remaining hives, he found thousands of them dead in piles beside the hive. Now flies have moved in to feast on these rotting bees.
