Meet the Cape Coral resident who really gives a hoot about burrowing owls

In early July 2021, Beverly Ahlering Saltonstall, a founding and 22-year member of the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW), received an email from an Ohio resident, saying he wanted to come here to see some burrowing owls after seeing the movie “Hoot.”

“I started laughing when I read it,” Saltonstall said, and replied with advice on some spots to visit. He thanked her a couple of days later … when Saltonstall’s book “Cape Coral Burrowing Owls Don’t Hoot” debuted on Kindle.

A couple of weeks later, he reached back out to say he had a great trip. She then told him about her book and said it would also be available a few days later on Amazon.

“I saved all of the emails,” she said “The timing of all of this was amazing!”
