Ground Owl will predict the weather for Southwest Florida

Most of the country looks to the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, to predict how long winter will last but here in southwest Florida, we have a famous ground owl.

The tradition of the ground owl predicting our weather began three years ago in Cape Coral.

This is a way to celebrate the fact that the city holds the title for having the largest population of burrowing owls in the state.

This marks Cape Coral as the premier destination to see the little guys in action.
