10am – 11:30am at Pelican Baseball Complex

Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW) is thrilled to announce the 7th Annual Ground Owl Day on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at the Pelican Baseball Complex, located at 4128 Pelican Blvd, Cape Coral, FL 33914. This beloved community gathering marks the exciting return of spring and celebrates the city’s official bird, the burrowing owl.

Fox 4 reporter Bella Line will serve as the master of ceremonies for the event, which will feature a special appearance from Athene, the burrowing owl mascot. Community members are invited to join in the excitement to see if Athene will see her shadow and signal the coming of spring! Local leaders and wildlife enthusiasts will also be in attendance to show their support for the conservation of these unique birds.

“We are excited to bring the community together for this special event, which highlights the beauty of our local wildlife and the importance of preserving it for future generations,” said Judy Mitchell, President of Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. Don’t miss this chance to join in the fun and celebrate the arrival of spring with your neighbors! CCFW merchandise including newly designed Ground Owl Day and Burrowing Owl T-shirts will be available for sale.
