Celebrating Lifelong Dedication: Judy and Gary Mitchell Honored with Lifetime Membership Award

At a recent Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife (CCFW) meeting, our Board was proud to make a heartfelt and long-overdue recognition. We are thrilled to announce that Judy and Gary Mitchell have been awarded Lifetime Memberships to CCFW in honor of their unwavering commitment, tireless service, and outstanding leadership.
Judy Mitchell exemplifies what it means to be a champion for wildlife and a pillar of leadership within our organization. Her efforts have spanned advocacy, collaboration, and visionary organization—all done with humility and purpose.
Judy is often the voice of CCFW, advocating on behalf of local wildlife and critical conservation initiatives. She has delivered powerful, well-researched statements at City Council and Planning & Zoning meetings on matters such as Yellow Fever Creek and Redfish Point. Her calm, respectful, and compelling tone has not only earned the attention of city officials—it has helped build lasting relationships with key city staff.
Beyond advocacy, Judy’s leadership thrives in collaboration. As President of both the CCFW Board and the Burrowing Owl Festival Committee for the past two years, she has brought people together with grace and inclusivity. Whether she’s engaging with volunteers in the field or offering support over the phone, she consistently fosters a spirit of connection and appreciation.
Judy also brings a remarkable level of detail and foresight to her role. Her meticulous recordkeeping—including comprehensive documentation of CCFW activities—creates an organizational legacy that will serve future leaders for years to come. Her notebooks alone are a testament to her deep dedication and organizational expertise.
Perhaps most inspiring is Judy’s hands-on approach. Whether it’s picking up signs, coordinating golf carts, proofreading press releases, or assembling auction materials, Judy leads by doing—and she does so with joy and quiet determination.
Behind Judy’s remarkable leadership is Gary Mitchell, whose steadfast support and countless contributions do not go unnoticed. From logistical support to event preparation, Gary’s behind-the-scenes work has made an immeasurable difference—and his encouragement of Judy’s efforts strengthens our organization every step of the way.
Together, Judy and Gary embody the spirit of CCFW. It is with deep gratitude and admiration that we welcome them as Lifetime Members of Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. Their dedication continues to inspire us all.
