PSA: Burrowing Owl Census This Saturday

On May 18, 2024 from 7 am – 12 pm volunteers will be conducting the Cape Coral Owl Census. If you’re driving around town between those hours, you may see this sign on many vehicles. We ask that you be patient as they will be making frequent stops and driving at a snail’s pace through neighborhoods looking for burrows and owls. The data to be collected includes the number of burrows, number of owls (adult/baby/juvenile), and eye color.  Therefore vehicles may be stopped for several minutes while making an observation.  The results will be used to track the population of burrowing owls over time.
